Easy Solid Golf Advice From the Pros

If the morning, when the grass may still be damp, is your ideal time for a golf game, stay away from any sneaker-like golf shoe. There are some sneaker-style golf shoes that have a waterproof coating, but most of them will simply get soaked.

What’s important is that you buy the set of clubs that works with your play style. To put this into perspective, early 20th century golfers used wooden clubs. An expensive titanium club is not going to improve your style.

If you start slipping while connecting with your club during your swing, don’t assume your glove is worn out. Have a look at your grips. They may be showing some signs of wear. If it is your grip take note that it doesn’t cost much for them to be fixed in order to improve your swing and game.

Bringing your club back too far takes away some of your hitting power. Pulling back too far will ruin your posture and cause you to hit the ball incorrectly or even swing right past it entirely.

When you hit a shot that lands on the green, make sure you check for any divots, and repair it if necessary. When a high flying ball lands on the green, it can cause a depression in the grass that will hinder a golfer trying to putt in that area after you have moved on to the next hole. Use your tee or a special tool designed for divot repair to re-flatten the grass on the green.

Keep a proper stance. If you don’t know if you’re standing properly, you can find out by doing an easy test. Just try tapping your toes upwards and downwards while keeping your feet still. You should be able to tap your toes with a little bit of effort. If you are leaning above the ball too far, it will be very difficult; however, if it is too easy, you are leaning back too far.

If you are lucky enough to have entered the sand trap yourself, take care to leave it in a good condition for whoever comes next. Take the time to rake up all marks you leave from the ball, divot, and your footprints before you leave. For proper golf etiquette, you want to rake all foot prints and divots in the sand so the golfers who are behind you do not have to play horrible lies. After hitting the ball out of the sand trap, rake up the displaced sand so that the person after you gets a good lie.
